SsangYong Motor Company, the premium SUV maker from Korea launched Tivoli diesel and showcased two new concept cars, the XLV-Air and XAV-Adventure at the recently concluded Frankfurt Motor Show.
Tivoli is a smart, compact SUV offering contemporary styling, class-leading safety and dynamic driving characteristics.  Following its international launch at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, sales of the petrol powered Tivoli began in May, and in just a few months, the car is already proving to be the perfect choice for customers seeking value and practicality.
Now with the addition of diesel power, Tivoli will offer increased driving dynamics, enhanced fuel economy, and even greater choice.
The new 1.6 litre diesel engine maximizes performance, especially in the low-mid speed range, producing a flat power curve between 3,400~4,000rpm and flat torque between 1,500~2,500rpm.
Tivoli diesel reduces CO2 emissions to 109g/km, and with the choice of 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive, and either an Aisin 6-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission, there is greater choice for the customer who wants a dynamic yet comfortable driving performance.
Tivoli particularly offers outstanding off-road and towing capability, features not generally found in this segment of the SUV market.
The Tivoli diesel is dynamic and fun to drive, and focuses on delivering excellent driving performance at a low to mid speed range, reliable 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions, and outstanding ride and handling.
Among the debutantes, the concept car, the XLV-Air is the pre-production model of the long bodied Tivoli which will be launched at the beginning of 2016, and XAV-Adventure, which is a modern reinterpretation of the original Korando.
XLV-Air is a multi-role SUV offering increased luggage space. Evolved from the Tivoli platform and following on from the exciting Smart Lifestyle Vehicle concept, XLV-Air is designed to provide comfortable and safe driving, while offering an enjoyable and pleasing interior environment.
Externally, its dynamic, robust-looking body is sharpened harmoniously with its coupe-style floating roof line, while the spacious and contemporary interior takes its design cue from a bird’s spread wings, and highlighted by a new Geonic fabric cloth specially produced in partnership with Kolon Glotech.
Extended luggage space is one of the key features of the XLV-Air, which provides a huge 720 litre loading capacity to make this family car even more practical.
Like Tivoli, XLV-Air comes with a choice of 1.6 litre petrol or 1.6 litre diesel engines, and matched with the option of an Aisin 6-speed automatic or manual transmission as well as with an option of two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive to choose from.
XAV-Adventure is the latest compact SUV concept from SsangYong, a contemporary interpretation of the company’s iconic Korando brand with a modern and masculine aura.
Its chunky proportions communicate the look of a strong, traditional no-nonsense SUV, while the interior design creates a contemporary and luxurious ambience with its complementary black and brown colourway. A capacious, square shaped and highly useable interior space is designed to carry large sports equipment.
The inner element of the carbon roof is a ‘convertible’ canvas roof, designed to create a wide-opening space to draw you closer to nature and the surrounding environment.
The hybrid electric E-4WD system of the XAV-Adventure comprises a lithium ion battery and two rear mounted electric motors offering two driving modes: hybrid fuel economy mode and hybrid performance mode.
For optimized ride comfort there is electric air suspension which automatically adjusts to the conditions, on or off-road. On rough terrain, the suspension adjusts to make the ride softer, while at high-speed and on a good road surface, it becomes firmer by lowering the ride height to prevent roll and pitch.
For real off-road adventure, XAV-Adventure offers high ground clearance, good ramp and break-over angles, water-wading, and has the ability to climb steep gradients.
