SQU, CMA sign agreement to boost cooperation

Sultan Qaboos University signed a letter of understanding with the Capital Market Authority (CMA) related exchange of scientific and practical experiences in the field of quality, academic accreditation and scientific research in the College of Economics and Political Science at SQU and the Authority.
The letter of agreement was signed by Dr Ali bin Saud al Bimani, Vice-Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University, and Shaikh Abdullah bin Salem al Salmi, Executive President of the Capital Market Authority.
The signing of the letter of understanding stems from the keenness to raise the level of the educational process, identify and keep abreast of the global developments in the fields identified.
Both organisations will expedite exchange expertise and experiences in the fields of quality, accreditation of academic programmes plans, teaching and research. Through the letter of understanding, the two parties seek to establish bilateral relationship to develop exchange latest knowledge, creative expression, innovation and promotion of teaching and learning in the fields identified.
The two parties would organise joint conferences, cooperate and work together towards the development of higher education through the development of undergraduate and graduate programmes.
For his part, Dr Ali al Bimani said that the LoU aims at linking the university with the rest of the governmental and private institutions. The main objective is to exchange experiences between the two sides. He added that such agreements help to send students for field training in various institutions. It is also possible that faculty members of the College of Economics and Political Science provide consultancy services to the Capital Market Authority.
Shaikh Abdullah al Salmi said the Capital Market Authority is delighted to sign a letter of understanding with SQU which aims at enhancing cooperation in research related to economic aspects, hence contributing to the convergence of academic programmes and labour market requirements. He hoped that the cooperation would help both parties to join hands in conducting research and keep abreast of the latest developments in these areas.

SQU, Z- Corp to promote ties

In order to reinforce cooperation and collaboration between industry and Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), the University and the Zubair Corporation (Z-Corp) have agreed to create a framework for collaboration. A letter of Understanding (LoU) in this regard has been signed between the two parties to encourage and develop cooperation in areas including innovation, scientific research, human development, and the exchange of research studies and expertise.
The LoU was signed by HH Dr Mona Fahad al Said, Assistant Vice-Chancellor for International Cooperation, SQU and Khalid M al Zubair, Managing Director, the Zubair Corporation LLC. The LoU is valid for one year and is renewable by mutual consent.
According to the LoU, both parties agree to support scientific research, studies and initiatives in areas to be agreed. SQU shall encourage academic staff and students to innovate and conduct research in fields pertinent to Z-Corp. SQU shall ensure that any research output delivered to Z-Corp is rigorous, professional and high quality. The LoU seeks to organise specialised lectures and workshops jointly by the two organisations. Z-Corp shall provide internship (Summer Training) programmes for a mutually agreed number of SQU students from selected disciplines.
Dr Shahid al Bulushi, Expert, International Cooperation Office and Assistant Professor, College Of Economics & Political Science at SQU and Waleed al Yarubi, Group Head-HR, the Zubair Corporation will be the focal points for the implementation of the objectives of this LoU.
