Thousands of people flocked to an event staged by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) at the Oman Avenues Mall in Muscat to celebrate the Company’s joint 50/80 anniversary at the weekend.
PDO set up an exhibition covering the 50th anniversary of the first export of Omani oil and the 80th anniversary of its foundation. There was also an interactive Kids’ Corner, digital displays of PDO history and a photo booth.
Banat Oman, which is a PDO-backed social investment project offering vocational training for low-income women, also showcased its products, including jewellery, handicrafts and dairy goods.
The event in the mall’s central atrium was hosted by popular Master of Ceremonies Salim Al Rahbi, who kept the children entertained with a prize quiz about PDO.
Basel Al Bahlani, six, said: “I really enjoyed the colouring section, games, and the photo booth. My favourite part of the event was receiving the PDO stationery pack, with a notebook, ruler, pencil and eraser, which I look forward to using in school.”
