Following its recent press debut, General Automotive Company (GAC), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Vehicles in Oman, hosted the public launch of the all-new 2016 Mitsubishi Montero Sport last weekend at the Oman Automobile Club in Seeb.
The two-day public launch event took place on April 13 and 14 between 6pm to 10pm at the Oman Automobile Club. The launch event included several exciting games, food stalls, stage entertainment and lot more fun-filled activities for the entire family to enjoy, including a Raffle draw for all attendees every hour. Visitors were also invited to test drive the all new Montero Sport on the dedicated off-road track at the Oman Automobile Club. As a part of the launch, GAC also announced the beginning of a special raffle draw where everyone who test drives the new Montero Sport until 30 May, as well as those that drove the vehicle at the launch event, will be provided with an opportunity to win an iPhone 6 every week.
Commenting on the all new vehicle, Manoj Ranade, the GM of General Automotive Company said, “We received an incredible response from the public for the launch of the new Montero Sport, with over 1800 visitors and over 400 test drives conducted at the event. Visitors who test drove the Montero were also pleased with it, with many praising its quality, performance and especially its styling. Receiving such positive feedback is a sure sign that the all-new Montero Sport will make a fine and successful addition to our Mitsubishi’s fleet in Oman.”
In its appearance, the all-new Montero Sport has been boldly sculpted and stylishly accented; its assertive aerodynamic body delivering solid refinement down to the last detail — from Dynamic Shield front design concept, right through to the vibrant rear lamps. The sophisticated new LED headlamps and daytime running lights further contribute to this appealing, high-quality personality. The interior uses a high console proportion dashboard, as befits a larger SUV, while dynamically styled silver-finish ornamentation and sculpted seats add to its luxurious feel. The well-appointed cabin surrounds occupants with solid craftsmanship, supportive comfort and intelligent features.
Handling stability, ride and quietness have also been taken to the next level through optimisation of the suspension and improvements to the body mounts. The all-new Montero Sport also uses a further-evolved version of MMC’s own Super-Select 4WD-II four-wheel drive system. This is complemented by other advanced features such including Hill Descent Control, selectable 2WD and 4WD modes, intelligent assistance in challenging conditions, and the new Off-road Mode that enhances traction and provides even better all-terrain performance and stability on demanding surfaces. Together with its advanced suspension and outstanding all-around clearance, all these features combine to provide a one of a kind vehicle with both on- and off-road capabilities worthy of the tri-diamond badge
The all-new Montero Sport is powered by a 3.0L MIVEC V6 gasoline engine that produces 219 hp@6,000rpm and 285Nm@4,000rpm; all the power that one may require of a rugged SUV to accomplish every mission with smooth, efficient ease. This is mated to Mitsubishi’s new 8-speed automatic transmission that delivers a smoother, more luxurious ride and improved fuel efficiency.
The all-new Montero Sport also comes with a very comprehensive list of active and passive safety features. MMC’s own RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) body design and a total of up to seven SRS airbags provide occupants with outstanding passive safety. Active safety features include a Forward Collision Mitigation system (FCM), Blind Spot Warning system (BSW), and the Ultrasonic misacceleration Mitigation System (UMS).
“The all-new Montero Sport combines a tough and powerful high-displacement V6 engine and a new 8-speed transmission with class-leading dynamic capabilities and advanced technology. It will provide its new owners strong performance even when carrying heavy loads or traveling up mountain roads, all while offering a cabin that provides occupants with some of highest levels of space and comfort in its class,” added Manoj Ranade.
The all-new Mitsubishi Montero is now available at all GAC showroom across Oman and is available in seven exterior colour options and three trim levels – GLS, GLS Highline and GLS Premium.
