Bentley’s new luxury flagship, the Mulsanne Speed, has been named Best Large Luxury Sedan at the inaugural Arab Wheels Awards, the second regional award for Bentley’s ultimate luxury driving experience in as many months.
The Arab Wheels Awards, which was set up to recognise the latest additions to the automotive market, was judged by a panel of regional automotive experts. The panel included Ralph R Debbas, Chairman/CEO of W Motors S.A.L, Khaled Hammoud, Editor in Chief of Auto Info magazine, Nabil Moustafa, Managing Partner/Xclusive SARL for Automotive Events, and Issam Eid, Editor in Chief of Arab Wheels.
The new Mulsanne Speed was also named the Best Large Luxury Sedan at the Middle East Car of the Year Awards (MECOTY) in October, highlighting the reputation that the ultra-luxury model is already establishing itself amongst motoring enthusiasts and customers alike.
Accepting the award on behalf of Bentley Motors, Neil Wilford, Regional Manager Middle East, India and Africa said, “The Mulsanne Speed is truly a statement in quintessential British luxury, it defines Bentley as a flagship for driving luxury and performance. We are very pleased to see that the Mulsanne Speed has been recognised by automotive experts in the Middle East only months after its regional launch.”
Commenting on the Mulsanne Speed’s win, Issam Eid, Editor-in-Chief of Arab Wheels said: “The Bentley Mulsanne Speed was a cut above the rest. Every Bentley is handcrafted by experts, and the Mulsanne Speed is a true luxury sedan.’’
Launched in the Middle East in June of this year, the Mulsanne Speed is tailored for the driver, with 537 PS (530 bhp / 395 kW), 1,100 Nm (811 lb.ft).
The reengineered powertrain, featuring Bentley’s mighty 6¾-litre twin-turbo V8, propels the Mulsanne Speed to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds (0‑100 km/h in 4.9 seconds) and on to a top speed of 190 mph (305 km/h). In modern Bentley tradition, the extra performance is matched by markedly improved efficiency; a 13% gain means a range extended by 50 miles (80 km).
New and contemporary styling features define the Mulsanne Speed as a statement in quintessential British luxury. On-board technology and connectivity are discreetly integrated beneath the finest materials, created with unrivalled craftsmanship and exquisite handcrafted details.
The Mulsanne Speed offers the Mulliner Driving Specification interior features fitted as standard, and include:
- Diamond quilted hide door panels and seats
- Indented hide headlining
- Embroidered Bentley emblems to all seats
- A coined finish to interior door handles
- Knurling to the sports gear lever and “organ stop” ventilation controls
- Drilled alloy sports foot pedals
Available at Bentley dealers across the Middle East, customers can choose from 24 different hide colours, in six different colour splits, and ten different veneers (seven as cost options) when specifying their Mulsanne Speed.
