Omantel launches Ultrafast Home Broadband Packages Offering Speeds up-to 200 Mbps
Omantel, the Sultanate’s most trusted telecoms provider has announced a complete upgrade of its range of Home Broadband packages. The new packages offer blistering fast connection speeds of up to 200 Megabits per second (Mbps) all at a lower price point, giving customers great value while making online gaming, video streaming and downloading more affordable for all segments of society.
The home broadband revamp is central to Omantel’s 3.0 transformation plan which firmly positions the Company as the Sultanate’s digital partner of choice, driving Oman to become a truly connected society where every individual and industry is empowered to reach their potential.
Commenting on the launch of the revamped Home Broadband packages, Haitham Al Kharusi, Vice President of Consumer noted, “At Omantel, we’re absolutely committed to enriching the experience of our customers; offering them the widest broadband national coverage and faster possible data speeds across the Sultanate. This exciting upgrade to every home broadband plan allows us to streamline our range of packages while offering higher data speeds at much lower prices than were previously available. This was the primary ideology that drove the complete revamp of our home broadband packages.”
The revamped Omantel Home Broadband packages are split into two categories – Ultra-Fast Home Broadband and Home Broadband. The former is the default offer for areas with ‘Fibre to the Home’ (FTTH) or ‘Very-high- bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line’ (VDSL) coverage, while the latter will cater to areas with normal DSL coverage. A fixed line subscription is included with all packages with the majority of plans offering free fixed on-net minutes and generous discounts on international calls. As with previous Omantel home broadband plans, a free or subsidized modem is supplied to all customers in return for a term commitment.
The Ultra-Fast Home Broadband range of plans start from Home Broadband Premium S and move up to Premium M, Premium L and Premium XL; each of which have no data limits but will have distinctly different upload and download speeds. The Premium S connection will include download speeds of up to 20 Mbps, upload speeds of up to 5Mbps and 500 Free Fixed On-Net Minutes. The Premium M connection increases the download speed up to 40 Mbps, upload speed up to 10 Mbps and will offer 1,000 Free Fixed On-Net Minutes.
The Premium L connection takes the download speeds up to 80 Mbps, upload speeds up to 20Mbps and will offer 1,500 Free Fixed On-Net Minutes. Meanwhile, the final Premium XL connection will offer the fastest available data speeds with download speeds of up to 200 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 50 Mbps.
Subscribers to Ultra-Fast Home Broadband also benefit from unlimited Free Fixed On-Net Minutes and will receive generous discounts on international calls ranging from 15% to 30% depending on the chosen plan. The Premium S, Premium M, Premium L and Premium XL connections will be priced at a fixed RO 30, RO 35, RO 45 and RO80 per month respectively (not including additional costs for fixed on-net calls over and above the allocated free limit).
Meanwhile, the Home Broadband range of value packages comprise four separate plans starting with the Home Broadband Basic, offering speeds of up to 4Mbps and 20GB of free data, and moving up to Home Broadband Unlimited S, Unlimited M and Unlimited L; each of which have no data limit and offer speeds of up to 4Mbps, 8Mbps and 16Mbps respectively. All four plans have their upload limits capped at 1Mbps. The latter three plans will also offer free fixed on-net minutes ranging from 250 to 1,000 minutes as well as discounts on international calls ranging from 5% to 20%.
Value prices for Home Broadband start from only OMR 15 per month for the Basic connection, with an additional RO 1 for every multiple of 1GB over the 20GB limit. The Unlimited S, Unlimited M and Unlimited L connections are priced at a fixed RO 20, RO 25 and RO 28 per month respectively.
“As part of the revamp, new customers can immediately enjoy the new speed and pricing plans, and we highly recommend that existing customers review the new Home Broadband plans on offer, as they’ll be able to upgrade and take advantage of the many new benefits offered by the revamped range of home broadband packages from Omantel.” added Haitham Al Kharusi. Investing in the future of the nation, Omantel connects even the most remote communities of the Sultanate to each other and with the rest of the world. Omantel is the Sultanate’s first and leading integrated telecommunications services provider, enabling the digital society to flourish, allowing new ways of doing business and delivering a world of information, news and entertainment. Today, Omantel boldly innovates to deliver the highest levels of customer satisfaction, the broadest and most reliable nationwide network while investing for Oman’s future development.
