Son Strikes to Down Manchester City on Nuno’s Debut

Heung-min Son’s second-half strike proved the difference in Tottenham’s 1-0 victory over Manchester City.
Tottenham’s players put in a fine, battling performance amidst Harry Kane’s absence from the matchday squad as they defeated a City side featuring Jack Grealish. It meant Nuno Espirito Santo got his spell in north London off to the perfect start.
The visitors started brightly, and were almost ahead five minutes in, as an error of judgment from Hugo Lloris from an inviting Benjamin Mendy cross saw Fernandinho head narrowly wide with the goal at his mercy.
However, Tottenham had settled into the game as the sides went into the break on level terms, and they took the lead 10 minutes after the interval.
A quick counterattack found its way to Son on the edge of the penalty area, before he cut inside and unleashed an unstoppable left-footed strike past Emerson.
Tottenham will be looking to replicate this performance as they face Wolves next Sunday whilst City will be looking to bounce back against Norwich on Saturday, the Spanish MARCA newspaper reported.
