His Majesty and the French President Witness the Signing of 12 Bilateral Agreements

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and His Excellency President Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, witnessed the signing of 12 agreements, memoranda of understanding and declarations of intent between the Sultanate of Oman and the French Republic at the Élysée Palace in Paris.

An agreement was signed between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic to train Omani specialist doctors. It was signed on the Omani side by His Excellency Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and on the French side by His Excellency Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs.

A memorandum of understanding in the field of logistics, ports and Muscat Metro was also signed between the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and the French Ministry of Transport. It was signed on the Omani side by His Excellency Anwar bin Hilal Al Jabri, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, and on the French side by His Excellency Philippe Tabroux, Minister of Transport.

In the context of strengthening economic cooperation, a memorandum of understanding in the field of investment promotion was signed between the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion and the French Ministry in charge of Foreign Trade and Attractiveness. It was signed on the Omani side by His Excellency Anwar bin Hilal Al Jabri, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, and on the French side by His Excellency Nicolas Fourisier, Minister in charge of Foreign Trade and Attractiveness.

In the civil aviation sector, a memorandum of understanding in the field of air transport was signed between the Civil Aviation Authority and the French Ministry of Transport. It was signed on the Omani side by His Excellency Anwar bin Hilal Al Jabri, Minister of Trade, Industry and Investment Promotion, and on the French side by His Excellency Philippe Tabroux, Minister of Transport.

The two sides also signed a declaration of intent for cooperation in the field of space between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic. It was signed on the Omani side by His Excellency Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and on the French side by His Excellency Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

In the cultural field, a declaration of intent regarding the ‘House of France’ was signed between the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs. It was signed on the Omani side by His Excellency Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and on the French side by His Excellency Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs.

In the education sector, a declaration of intent regarding the teaching of the French language was signed. It was signed on the Omani side by His Excellency Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and on the French side by His Excellency Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

In the water sector, an agreement was signed to manage water networks in the governorates of Muscat, South Al Sharqiyah and North Al Sharqiyah between the Oman Investment Authority, Nama Water Services Company and the National Energy Center on the Omani side, and the Suez Group and the National Trading Company on the French side. It was signed on the Omani side by Qais bin Saud Al Zakwani, CEO of Nama Water Services Company and Abdullah bin Rashid Al Badi, CEO of the National Energy Center, and on the French side by Xavier Guerre, CEO of the Suez Group and Tony Georgiou, CEO of the National Trading Company.

In the field of transport and logistics, the main terms agreement for a joint project to develop and operate a multi-purpose terminal was signed between Asyad Group and the French CMA CGM Group. It was signed on the Omani side by Abdul Rahman bin Salem Al Hatmi, CEO of Asyad Group, and on the French side by Rodolphe Saadi, CEO of CMA CGM Group.

A contract was also signed for the first phase of the 500 MW Al Kamil and Al Wafi solar power plant project between Nama Power and Water Procurement Company and the French company EDF Energy Solutions. It was signed on the Omani side by Ahmed bin Salem Al Abri, CEO of Nama Power and Water Procurement Company, and on the French side by Beatrice Buffon, CEO of EDF Energy Solutions.

As part of the move towards renewable energy projects, an agreement was signed for the Wadi Dayqah Dam project for storing hydroelectric power between the Public Services Regulatory Authority and the French EDF Group. It was signed on the Omani side by His Excellency Abdul Salam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of the Oman Investment Authority, and on the French side by Beatrice Buffon, CEO of the EDF Group for Energy Solutions.

The signing ceremony concluded with the signing of a strategic partnership agreement between the Oman Investment Authority, Station 11 and Station F, to launch a program that enables Omani startups to explore and expand into French and European markets. The agreement was signed on the Omani side by Al-Mu’tasim bin Salim Al-Sariri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Station 11, and on the French side by Eloic Perrache, Dean of HEC Paris, and Roxane Vazra, General Manager of Station F.

These agreements, memoranda of understanding and declarations of intent come within the framework of the official visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the French Republic, reflecting the strength of Omani-French relations and enhancing the paths of cooperation and partnership between the two friendly countries in various fields.
