What is Progress?
For over 24 years, Progress (Al Takkadum), an annual bilingual (English and Arabic) publication commemorating His Majesty’s ascent to the throne, has traced Oman’s progress and development, highlighting the landmark achievements of Oman. The special publication salutes His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said’s vision and prudent policies which have put the Sultanate on a fast track to prosperity and growth.
About the Progress 2018 Edition
Published on the occasion of the 48th Anniversary of Oman’s Blessed Renaissance, Progress 2018 focuses on the improving economic sentiments in the Sultanate buoyed by rising oil prices, growth of non-oil revenues and the continued government investment on infrastructure projects.
The annual publication also highlights the various development initiatives that are providing strong tailwinds to Oman’s economy such as the opening of the new Muscat International Airport (pictured) providing an impetus to the Sultanate’s tourism prospects and the ongoing efforts on diversification, privatization of state-owned entities to broad-base the economy, the renewed impetus on public-private partnerships, SME development, job creation for Omanis and enhancing the tax base using VAT and a cut in subsidies.
Progress 2018 also presents a first-hand account of Oman’s development from ministers, dignitaries and industry leaders. It updates readers on the achievements of various sectors such as oil and gas, trade and tourism, transport and communications, telecom, IT, real estate and construction, banks and financial services, agriculture and fisheries, manufacturing, logistics, mining, education and public services.
