Muscat: As the Sultanate vies to become a leading tourist destination in the GCC and strengthen its tourism sector, the Ministry of Finance has announced in a report that Oman will offer visa-free entry to citizens from a number of countries.
As per data that was revealed by the Ministry of Finance and Oman’s mid-term Fiscal Plan 2020-2024, the new plan will exempt citizens of 100 countries from obtaining a visa prior to entering Oman.
More details on the countries listed in the report are awaited from the Ministry. An official date of implementation of the new law has also not been disclosed.
The report reads: “The Fiscal Plan 2020-2024 will encourage more tourists to visit Oman and will enhance the tourism sector while raising its contribution to the national economy.”
As of 2020, only GCC citizens can enter Oman without procuring a visa. However, it is known that citizens of 71 countries can apply for online visas (provided the traveller has a minimum of six months on their passport).
