Oman And Iran Explore Economic Relations

Muscat: Dr. Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, expressed delight at visiting the Sultanate of Oman and meeting His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.

The Iranian President affirmed that his talks with His Majesty the Sultan laid emphasis on the necessity of taking steps to develop relations between the two countries in economic, commercial, and tourism fields.

In an interview with Oman TV, the President Raisi reiterated the fact that His Majesty Sultan Haitham is pursuing the approach espoused by the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said in consolidating Omani-Iranian relations.

The president described relations between the two countries “centuries-old relations bonds that are deeply-engrained in memory” and that “this visit constitutes a point of transformation towards wider horizons of cooperation between the two countries”.

He explained that “The Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Iran boast strong confidence and a unique experience that gave impetus to robust cooperation on a number of regional and international issues.”

In the interview, the president touched on matters discussed during meetings held by Omani officials with their Iranian counterparts, notably economic cooperation and means of resolving difficulties facing the business community on either side.

He conveyed the Iranian people’s interest to invest in the Sultanate of Oman, expand relations and develop commercial exchange.

He also pointed out that Oman and Iran agree that the language of dialogue is the sole means of resolving disputes in the region.

Speaking about the Yemeni issue, the president explained that the solution of the Yemeni crisis could only be realized through negotiations among Yemenis themselves.
