ICAI Muscat Chapter Announces Change in Leadership
Muscat: In a virtual meeting conducted recently, the Muscat chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), which is responsible for all India chartered accountant activities in Oman, conducted its 13th Annual General Meeting. During this meeting, they confirmed the election of their managing committee for the period of 2021 – 24.
The newly announced leadership team consists of – The new Chairman, CA Raviprakash Deora, The Vice Chairman, CA Sajeev Surendran, The Secretary, CA Jim Joseph Itty and The Treasurer, CA Shilpa Pawani. The new Managing Committee also includes CA Sangeeta Sureshkumar (Chairperson CPE Committee), CA Digan Pandya (Chairman – Membership Committee) and CA Unmesh Bhome (Chairman- Compliance and Legal).
The outgoing Chairman, CA Ramanand Prabhu, presented the annual report with the shareholders. He highlighted the laurels received by the Chapter in spite of the difficulties and severe restrictions imposed by the COVID – 19 pandemic. He showcased the success of the virtual events that were spearheaded in Oman, notable events included: An online international conference, a webinar titled – “Invest in Oman”, Career guidance events for the various Indian school students and finally, various celebrations were conducted, including an event for Oman’s National day.
The incoming Chairman expressed his gratitude to the outgoing Managing Committee and vowed to continue to hold the flag high with the same zeal and vigour. In his capacity as the new Chairman, Mr Deora backed up his commitment by presenting a strategic plan for the next 3 years focusing on the professional development of members and students. In addition, he reinforced the commitment of the Chapter in their efforts to establish a Professional accounting body to support Oman in its economic growth and participate actively, in the progress of Oman’s nation-building.
The new Leadership also, interacted with several high-profile dignitaries such as, The Indian Ambassador HE Munu Mahawar, Mr Nasser Said al Lamki, General Manager and Chief Audit Executive in Bank Nizwa and the Guest of honour for the event was CA Devaraj Reddy, a previous President of ICAI.
