Abu Dhabi Statistics Centre Taps Oman’s Experience in Census 2020
Muscat: During its participation in a video conferencing meeting with Abu Dhabi Statistics Centre today, the Sultanate of Oman showcased its experience in national registers’ labelling during Census 2020. Oman was represented during the meeting by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Abu Dhabi Statistics Centre is planning to conduct a comprehensive census of population, residences and buildings over the next two years.
The meeting explored the legal and regulatory framework of Census 2020, the main stages of the project, the action plan, the methodology, the data system, the mechanism used in data collection and the challenges posed to the project.
The record breaking implementation of Oman’s Electronic Census 2020 made waves among specialized regional and international organisations due to its speed and accuracy. The results of the census were approved and made public within 48 hours from the reference date, the 12th of December 2020.
The Sultanate of Oman took credit for conducting the census on schedule, despite the outbreak of coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic in 2020. In fact, Oman has become a global house of expertise in the field of transforming census operations into the digital age.
