UAE President Sheikh Khalifa Dies At Age 73

His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, passed away today, as per a report issued today [May 13] by the state news agency, WAM.
The statement read: “The Ministry of Presidential Affairs has mourned to the UAE people, Arab and Islamic nations and the world the death of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who has passed away on Friday, 13th May 2022.”
The ministry also announced that the UAE will observe a forty-day state mourning with the flag flown at half-mast starting today and that it will suspend work at all ministries, departments, and federal, local and private entities for three days.
HH Sheikh Khalifa (May His Soul Rest In Peace) served as the President of the United Arab Emirates and the ruler of Abu Dhabi since 2004, and was elected to succeed his father – His Highness (The Late) Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan (the Father of the Nation) – after he passed away on November 2, 2004.
He was the eldest son of Sheikh Zayed.
