U.S President Joe Biden Announces Suspension of Oil & Gas Leases In Arctic Refuge
Washington D.C: In a move mirroring his commitment to climate change, the incumbent US President, Joe Biden, announced that the current administration will suspend Oil & gas leases in the US’s state of Alaska, which is home to the Arctic Natural Wildlife Refuge (ANWR).
This reverses the decision made by the former president, Donald Trump, which was issued in the last days of his term. The state of Alaska is home to a large Native American population and is widely considered the ‘last true wilderness in the US. This move was widely denounced by the Republican Representatives but warmly welcomed by the traditionally ignored Tribal Leaders of the region, who felt vindicated and were satisfied with their concerns being heard.
