RO 300K winners announced during Sohar International’s quarterly and monthly draws
Congruent to its purpose of ‘helping people win’, and allegiance towards encouraging a prudent savings culture in Oman, Sohar International recently organized an entertaining evening where it conducted its Monthly and Quarterly Draws under its Savings Prize Scheme for the year 2019 themed “Now That’s Winning” rewarding a total of eight winners with cash prizes totalling RO 300,000.
Graced by His Excellency Sheikh Ali Ahmed Al Shamsi, the Wali of Sohar, the Draw event was held on the 14th of October in Wilayat Sohar, and attended by more than 300 guests, including dignitaries, customers and members of the bank’s management team. The Quarterly Draws for the period ending September 2019 recognised and rewarded four winners with cash prizes totalling RO 200,000; two being randomly selected bank wide from the General category; Mr H. M. from Ruwi branch and Mr M. Al Araimi from Wealth Management, and two randomly selected from Wealth Management; Mr A. S from Suwaiq branch and Mr S S S from Salalah branch. This was followed by the announcement of the Monthly Draws and the four lucky winners; Ms Laila Al Balushi from Sur branch and Mr S I A from Al Azaiba branch at the General segment; Ms Alya Al Qasmi from Al Amerat branch and Mr K. S. Al Mamari from Sohar branch at the Wealth Management segment.
The event festivities started with a welcome note by the bank followed by a speech by Mr Khalil Al Hedaifi, Chief Retail Banking Officer at Sohar International, to mark the special occasion. The event, which coincided with Omani Women’s Day, witnessed an array of entertainment programs that included a traditional band performance, a play performed by a number of students, and a poetry recital. Prior to the announcement of the lucky winners, several Omani women were rewarded at the event recognising their efforts toward the community to mark the Omani Women’s Day. Subsequent to the announcement, the event concluded with a token of appreciation presented to the guest speaker and a buffet dinner for the attendees.
Commenting on the Prize Scheme and the draw event , Mr Khalil Al Hedaifi, said, “Our draws under Sohar | Prize Scheme serve as a golden opportunity for us to provide more prospects for winning among our customers; while aiding them in transforming their lives, and in turn contributing to the overall prosperity of the nation. That’s not all – the draw venues also serve as an opportunity for us to interact with customers more frequently and understand their aspirations and requirements; which goes a long way in helping us present them with suitable propositions for their ever-changing world. On behalf of Sohar International, I would like to congratulate each of the winners of the Quarterly and Monthly Draws; as well as encourage all our other customers to continue saving to maximise their chances of winning in the coming draws.”
To be eligible in the Draws, customers in general need to maintain a minimum monthly average balance of OMR 100 in the months of March and September, while for the draws dedicated to Wealth Management customers, an average balance of OMR 40,000 is required for months of March and September.
Offering customers more chances to win, Sohar International conducts other regular draws including Weekly Draws of OMR 4,500, Quarterly Draws giving away OMR 200,000 in total equally split between two customers from the General segment and two customers from the Wealth Management segment. The biggest prize of the year will be in the 2019 Year-End grand draws, giving away a total of OMR 400,000 distributed equally between four customers; two from the general segment and two from the wealth management segment. Moreover, Sohar International introduced two new draws to celebrate special occasions, namely the Omani Women’s Day with OMR 10,000 equally split between ten winners, and the 49th National Day with OMR 49,000 to be won by 49 customers.
All Sohar I Prize Scheme 2019 accounts will have four chances for every minimum average balance maintained in their accounts, while Minor accounts will enjoy double these chances. The Sohar I Prize Scheme 2019 is not exclusive for accounts in Omani Riyal only; saving accounts that are maintained in AED, GBP and USD are also eligible to participate in the Sohar | Prize Scheme 2019. For those seeking to save without participating in the prize draws, they can instead choose interest bearing accounts.
