Omani Doctor Receives Prestigious Harold Johnson Blood Transfusion Award

Muscat: Dr. Arwa Zakaria al-Riyami, Senior Consultant at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital’s Department of Hematology, has become a distinguished recipient of The Harold Johnson Award of the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT) in recognition of her efforts in researching and publishing she submitted recently.
The Paper titled; “Impacts of Coronavirus on Workers in Blood Banks in the World in the First Months of the Pandemic” was a study on the impact of the COVID – 19 virus on health care workers engaged in blood banks in the Middle – East. The paper was thorough and comprised a vast dataset and control groups comprised of a total of 283 workers in blood banks, all of whom were aged 40 years and below. This set of participants included 124 physicians among the aforementioned 283 participants.
Dr. Arwa conducted her research with the cooperation of the consultative council of the ISBT.
