Sasol, the international integrated chemicals and energy company showcased its range of surfactants and specialty products at the recent Oil and Gas West Asia Exhibition – OGWA 2016, one of the largest and most important oil and gas events in the region, held at the Oman International Exhibition Center. Sasol’s stand highlighted the company’s expertise in the oil and gas industry, in particular the uses of performance chemicals in the Enhanced Oil Recovery Process.
Sasol joined more than 275 exhibitors at the OGWA 2016, reaching over 5,000 participants. The exhibition, now in its 10th edition, is held on a yearly basis. Visitors to the stand were exposed to several integral parts of Sasol’s business, including the full international footprint, oil and gas field operations and processes and the extensive range of products that are used in the 36 countries in which Sasol operates.
Sasol’s stand stood out in terms of design and creativity, with one side of the stand showcasing Omani culture and the other showcasing South African culture reflecting the company’s heritage. Moreover, a poster titled “The Sasol Journey” presented the various locations of the Sasol international offices and the milestones that Sasol has achieved in various regions over its 65 years in operation.
Sasol representatives explained to visitors the product portfolio of the company’s performance chemicals, which range from anionic to nonionic surfactants, which are specifically designed to meet requirements for applications in different regions.
Patrick Nijssen, Market Development Manager EOR – EMEA said, “Sasol Performance Chemicals is broadcasting its capabilities on crude oil and natural gas production enhancement by means of surfactants for real life EOR applications for the first time in Oman at the OGWA. Sasol is now actively engaged in full field projects where surfactants are injected in steam, foam and highly saline injection waters in both carbonate and sandstone formations, with the aim to improve oil recovery to target 70 per cent recovery of the original oil in place. Sasol has become a global leader in EOR surfactants to unlock additional oil reserves in close cooperation with E&P companies and their supporting service companies. Sasol is involved from in-house chemistry design, based on its customers’ oilfields specific fluids and properties, to truly global chemistry production, chemistry delivery and full field chemistry applications. Its current EOR focus in West Asia rests on boosting production in Oman, Kuwait, UAE and Qatar.”
