The Financial Services Authority organises the National Health Insurance Platform Forum ‘Dhamani’

The Financial Services Authority organised the National Health Insurance Platform Forum ‘Dhamani’ under the slogan – ‘With the partnership of doctors, we enhance the success of Dhamani.’ The forum saw the participation of more than 200 doctors from various medical specialties. It endeavoured to introduce medical staff to the system and its mechanisms of work and enhance the integration between medical practice and insurance services.

Ahmed bin Ali Al-Maamari, Executive Vice President of the Financial Services Authority, affirmed in his speech that the ‘Dhamani’ platform has achieved a qualitative leap in regulating the health insurance market in the Sultanate of Oman since its launch, as it has recorded more than 20 million digital transactions and processed more than 92 million insurance claims with a value exceeding RO 92 million.

He explained that the platform contributed to shortening the time period for settling treatment and financial approvals between the parties of the insurance process, through the existing link between all hospitals, health centers and clinics with insurance companies, which enhances integration between health and insurance services and expands the scope of benefit from the system.

He pointed out that the health insurance sector represents a fundamental pillar for the sustainability of the health system, explaining that the diversity of health services, their high cost and the complexity of their procedures have made digital transformation and the use of modern technologies an urgent necessity to speed up procedures and improve the quality of health services, thereby enhancing beneficiary satisfaction and confidence.

Al-Maamari added that the platform serves as a link between medical care and insurance procedures by automating processes and building a unified medical record for insured persons that supports the integration of the medical decision and the health insurance decision. Efforts are also continuing to link all pharmacies in the Sultanate of Oman to the platform, in preparation for providing quality services, including prescription service, through the integration of the link between pharmacies, hospitals and insurance companies.

The forum addressed the impact of the ‘Dhamani’ platform in facilitating treatment services procedures, its role in promoting digital health and benefiting from business intelligence applications, in addition to reviewing the platform’s experience from the perspective of regional experts. The forum also witnessed an interactive discussion session that brought together specialists in the health and insurance fields to discuss the reality of the system and the requirements for its development.

‘Dhamani’ is a national platform for exchanging health insurance information and transactions electronically between health and insurance institutions in the Sultanate of Oman, with the aim of simplifying procedures and facilitating access to health services for insured people with full efficiency and smoothness.
