Insurance Companies listed on MSX post profits exceeding RO20 million in Q1 2026
The net profits of insurance and takaful companies listed on the Muscat Stock Exchange rose in the first half of this year to RO20.9 million, recording a growth of 5 percent compared to the same period last year, which amounted RO19.9 million.
The financial results indicated an improvement in the performance of most listed companies, while 3 companies recorded a decline in their net profits. Liva Group topped the list with net profits of RO4.4 million, but at the same time it recorded a decline from the profits it recorded in the first half of last year, which exceeded RO8.8 million.
Dhofar Insurance Company recorded a net profit increase of approximately 55 percent, rising from RO2.6 million to RO4.03 million. Oman Reinsurance Company also recorded a growth of 49.5 percent in its net profit, which rose from RO2.2 million to RO3.3 million. Oman United Insurance Company recorded a remarkable growth in its net profit, which rose from RO991,000 to RO3.2 million.
The net profit of the Omani Qatari Insurance Company increased from RO1.8 million to RO2.7 million, and the net profit of Al Madina Takaful Company increased from RO813,000 to RO1.629 million.
The sector’s profits were affected by the decline in net profits of Arab Falcon Insurance Company, which fell from RO1.53 million to RO491,000, and the decline in profits of Takaful Oman Insurance from RO1.17 million to RO1.669 Omani riyals, recording the lowest level of net profits among insurance and takaful companies listed on the Muscat Stock Exchange.
Insurance and Takaful companies listed on the Muscat Stock Exchange confirmed in reports submitted to their shareholders the improvement in the overall performance of the sector, expecting continued growth in the second half of this year. However, they pointed to several challenges facing the sector, including the rise in claims, especially in the property and vehicle insurance branches, explaining that this rise put pressure on profits during the first half of this year.
Companies worked on reducing the impact of these challenges by working to enhance overall performance, intensifying its efforts to develop its business, increasing investment returns, focusing on developing claims management, enhancing underwriting discipline and improving the quality of the insurance portfolio while continuing to diversify its business areas to maintain its competitiveness in light of the many challenges facing the sector resulting from climate change and geopolitical conditions and the pressures they place on the sector’s performance.
The improvement witnessed by the sector was reflected in the market value of insurance and takaful companies listed on the Muscat Stock Exchange, which rose at the end of last June to RO334.9 million, compared to RO306.4 million in December 2025, recording market gains of RO28.5 million. Liva Group tops the list with a market value of RO143.4 million, Dhofar Insurance came in second with a market value of RO39.5 million, while Oman United Insurance came in third with RO36.1 million, Oman Qatar Insurance came in fourth with a market value of RO29.6 million, and Oman Reinsurance came in fifth with RO28.1 million.
At the level of stock prices, Dhofar Insurance shares recorded the highest rise, increasing by 103 baisa from 237 baisa in December to 340 baisa in June. Liva Group shares rose by 30 baisa to close at the end of June at 360 baisa. Al Madina Takaful shares rose from 96 baisa to 121 baisa. Oman United Insurance shares rose from 339 baisa to 344 baisa. Arab Falcon Insurance shares rose from 135 baisa to 140 baisa. Takaful Oman Insurance shares rose from 60 baisa to 64 baisa. Oman Reinsurance shares remained stable at their previous level of 85 baisa. Oman Qatar Insurance shares recorded a decline from 192 baisa to 184 baisa. Muscat Insurance shares declined from 790 baisa to 580 baisa.
