OOMCO supports Human Resource Conference

Reinforcing its commitment to invest in its people, Oman Oil Marketing Company (OOMCO) recently supported the Omani Society for Human Resource Management (OSHRM) for the 5th Oman Human Resources Conference.
Held at the Oman Conference and Exhibition Centre (OCEC), the event drew Human Resource experts from all over the world. More than 50 speakers provided insights into the ever-changing human resources management sector, under this year’s theme ‘HR: “The Heart of Business”. The annual conference is an important platform to discuss the most pertinent topics affecting the Sultanate in the field of HR today.
“As the Sultanate’s leading fuel marketer, we have worked hard to establish ourselves as one of Oman’s top preferred employers and we prioritize the identification, training and development of local talents. Conferences like this offer a significant opportunity for us and other companies to share knowledge, enhance our capabilities in the field, and help support the overall development of Oman’s talent pool,” said Khamis Nasser Al Shuaibi, General Manager, Shared Services at Oman Oil Marketing Company.
“As an ever-evolving event, the conference seeks to break new ground and reshape the way we think about HR practices. We’re grateful to Oman Oil Marketing Company for not only supporting us, but for setting a benchmark for successful HR practice in Oman. As a country we are receptive to change and while our workplaces have made incredible strides in the past few years, we will continue to encourage progress. This conference gives us a platform to discuss where the field is heading, the lessons we have learned and those we are still learning,” added Dr Ghalib Al Hosni, President of the Omani Society for Human Resource Management.
Starting as a volunteer group of enthusiastic HR professionals, OSHRM has become one of Oman’s most active NGOs, continuing to work on its mission to build and nurture the growing HR capability in the Sultanate. Its annual conference highlights the most pertinent topics in HR, a sector that is considered to be directly linked to economic growth of the country. This year included such topics as the role of government, business intelligence and gender equality in the digital age.
As a home-grown Omani organization that prides itself on being a pioneer in the Sultanate’s energy sector and partner in the development of its infrastructure, Oman Oil Marketing Company continuously seeks to bolster its workforce. With an Omanisation rate of 83%, it remains focused on recruiting local talent and building In-Country Value. By sponsoring various local events, the company underscores its commitment to “You trust, We care.” The company aims to position itself among the top five fuel marketers in the GCC by 2025.
