The National U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Kogod School of Business at American University is going to organize the Second Sovereign Wealth Funds Conference 2015 in Washington, DC, US.
Since the first Sovereign Wealth Funds (“SWFs”) Conference at American University in October 2014, the world has experienced drastic changes. Oil prices plummeted precipitously while OPEC maintained its production volume. Concurrently, the world’s economic recovery still continues with the growth rate of developing countries exceeding that of developed countries. Instability in some of the world regions, from the Ukraine to Iraq, passing through Afghanistan to Syria, and lately to Yemen, has forced countries to dip into their SWFs to sustain their annual budgets. The sudden changes in SWFs are altering the investment strategies of these funds. The proposed second international conference will address these issues and assess how these global changes are impacting SWFs.
Scholars and practitioners from around the world will be meeting at American University for an insightful, one-day conference exploring how political turbulence is impacting SWFs.
