Oman’s first locally-made well servicing unit launched

Hormuz 45, designed and manufactured by Rukun Al Yaqeen International (RAY), was inaugurated at a ceremony attended by Mohammed bin Hamad Al Rumhy, minister of oil and gas, and a number of senior officials.
The unit is a new concept well services product customised for Oman’s oil and gas market.
It is designed to provide integrated work over solutions by delivering e-line logging, slick line operations, integrity testing, crane lifting and continued rod running services all in one unit, according to Majid Al Shandoudi, general manager for RAY International Oil and Gas.
In addition, the new concept is a creative solution for cost and time effectiveness, especially in the current challenging oil and gas market environment.
Tameem Al Mahrouqi, managing director; Tahir Al Kindi, chairman of RAY International; and Rashid Al Mahrouqi, acting managing director, introduced the minister to the capabilities of the product during a tour of the units.
The wireline unit is the first multitask unit that has been fully designed by Omani engineers and built in Oman. The Hormuz series are made up of 180 rotating units geared up with dual drums, designed for combined e-line and slick line operations. The units are equipped with advanced data acquisition technology and latest operation control systems.
The minister also expressed satisfaction with the initiative taken by RAY International to build multitask wireline units that may have a potential impact on the oil and gas industry in the Sultanate and help enhance in-country value.
