Haya Water inks services pact with KPMG to privatise sewage plants

Haya Water (Oman Wastewater Services Company S.A.O.C) has signed a consultancy services agreement with KPMG Lower Gulf Limited as part of a plan to privatise three sewage plants.
Haya Water, owned by the Oman government, announced the signing of the agreement on its Twitter account adding that the agreement will involve preparation of privatisation documents for three of its sewage plants in Musaffah (Bawshar), Al Suwaiq, and Al Khaburah.
According to the tweet, the KPMG Lower Gulf Limited has been tasked with “preparing and implementing framework” of privatisation of Haya Water’s projects.

Earlier this year, Oman News Agency had reported that the construction work for Haya Water’s new sewage water treatment plant in Darsait was on track to begin operations in Q3 of this year.
Engineer Hussain bin Hassan AbdullHussain, CEO of Haya Water, had been quoted as saying that the new plant was being built to meet growing demand and is equipped with the latest technologies to treat sewage and control odour.
The plant, which boasts a processing capacity of 37,000cu/m per day, will be linked to residential, commercial and governmental buildings in the areas in Wadi Kabir, Ruwi and other areas that belong to the wilayat of Muttrah, he had said.
