Best Performing Companies Shine At Alam Al-Iktisaad Wal A’mal Awards 2019
The traditional industry leaders and fast growing upcoming companies walked away as winners in the annual Alam al-Iktisaad Wal A’mal Awards 2019, held on 15th September. This year marked the ninth edition of the annual Awards. Top five best performing companies, based on their performance on select seven financial parameters in the financial year 2018, were felicitated in three different categories – large cap, mid cap and small cap.
The red carpet awards ceremony was held at Hotel W Muscat. His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Omar al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service was the chief guest; and His Excellency Eng. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Dheeb, Undersecretary, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, was the guest of honour for the awards night. It was attended by over 230 industry leaders and senior officials.
Leading brands in the Sultanate joined hands with Alam al-Iktisaad Wal A’mal (AIWA), the leading Arabic business publication from United Media Services, in bringing the prestigious Awards to life. Gulf Baader Capital Markets (GBCM) was the knowledge partner; National Life & General Insurance was the insurance partner; Oman Data Park was the technology partner; United Securities and Voltamp were the support partners; Businessliveme.com, Times of Oman and Al Shabiba were the media partners; RMP was the print partner for the event. The event was managed by UMS Live, the specialist events and conferences arm of United Media Services (UMS).

In the large cap segment, National Life & General Insurance, topped the list of winners. It was followed by four other winners including Ooredoo, HSBC Bank Oman, Ahli Bank and Sohar International. In the mid cap segment, National Finance emerged on top. The other winners in the segment included Al Ahlia Insurance, Al Kamil Power, Al Batinah Power and Al Suwadi Power. The small cap category had Taageer Finance taking up the pole position among the winners. Muscat Finance, Oman Chlorine, Dhofar Insurance and Majan University College were the other winners in the small cap segment.
Furthermore, achievements that go beyond the balance sheet were also recognized through Alam al-Iktisaad Wal A’mal Awards. Mohammed Mahfoudh Al Ardhi, Chairman of Sohar International was felicitated with ‘Lifetime Achievement’ Award. The ‘Nation Builder’ Award was presented to Sheikh Salim Bin Ahmed Al Ghazali, Chairman of Golden Group Holding. The Award for ‘Most Outstanding Corporate Leader’ was presented to Said Ahmed Safrar, Chief Executive Officer, Oman Investment & Finance Co. (OIFC). Shaikh Aimen bin Ahmed Al Hosni, Chief Executive Officer, Oman Airports was felicitated with ‘Aviation CEO of the Year’ Award. The ‘Business Transformation Leader of the Year’ was presented to Majid Bin Sultan Al Toky, Chairman of Dhofar Insurance.
The Award for ‘CEO of the Year’ was presented to S.Venkatachalam, Chief Executive Officer of National Life & General Insurance. The Award for ‘Business Leader’ was presented to Davis Kallukaran, Managing Partner, Crowe Mak Ghazali. The ‘Dynamic Entrepreneur’ Award was presented to Pradeep Tripathi, Managing Director of Global Phone Technology.
In addition, the ‘Most Valuable Company’ Award was presented to Bank Muscat. The ‘Excellence in Business Transformation’ Award went to Oman Aviation Services. Renaissance Services got ‘Corporate Deal of the Year’ Award and ‘Financing Deal of the Year’ Award went to Octal.
Alizz Islamic Bank walked away with ‘Industry Leadership in Customer Experience’ Award. The ‘Best CSR Campaign’ Award was presented to the #WinningTogether campaign of Sohar International. The ‘Iconic Commercial Project of the Year’ Award was presented to Ominvest Business Centre of Oman Real Estate Investment Services, an Ominvest Group company. Voltamp Power received the ‘Excellence in Exports Performance’ Award. Al Nab’a Supplies and Catering Services was presented with ‘Catering Company of the Year’ Award.
The ‘Excellence in Global Cloud Based Services’ Award was received by Oman Data Park. Muscat Eye Laser Center got ‘Omani Best Lasik & Cataract Center’ Award. United Securities was presented with ‘Financial Advisory Services Company of the Year’ Award. Design Group Engineering Consultants received ‘Excellence in Engineering Consultancy’ Award.
The ‘Industry Leadership in Animal Feed’ Award went to Dhofar Cattle Feed. Unimoni received the ‘Remittance & Foreign Exchange Company of the Year’ Award.
The august audience was also addressed by two esteemed guest speakers – Samir J Fancy, the Chairman and Founder of Renaissance Services; and Rainer Michael Preiss, Portfolio Strategist at Taurus Family Office, Singapore.
