His Excellency Eng. Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, Undersecretary of Ministry of Oil and Gas, visited BP Oman’s Khazzan field on 27th October to review progress of the project as BP prepares to deliver first gas in 2017.
His Excellency was accompanied by Yousuf Al Ojaili, President of BP Oman, and a number of senior Ministry of Oil, Ministry of Finance, and Gas and Oman Oil delegates. The Khazzan project is expected to increase Oman’s supply of natural gas by a third, with one billion cubic feet of natural gas due to flow from the site every day.
His Excellency and the delegates visited a number of areas on the site including an operating Omani Abraaj Rig. The visitors also toured the emerging Central Gas Processing Facility area,
At the conclusion of the visit, H.E Eng. Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi commented: “This has been an overdue visit. The Khazzan project is making great progress and the benefit to Oman will be significant once when gas begins to flow by end of 2017.”
Yousuf Al Ojaili, President of BP Oman, also commented: “Over 45% of project and infrastructure works have been completed at Khazzan so far, and there are seven drilling rigs in the field, with 12 wells already having been drilled. We continue to invest significantly in Oman despite the lower oil price.”
