His Majesty Sultan Haitham and President Macron Attend Omani-French Business Forum

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik accompanied by His Excellency President Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, attended the Omani-French Business Forum in Paris as part of His Majesty’s official visit.

During the forum, His Majesty the Sultan praised the growth and development witnessed in the economic and investment partnership between the two friendly countries across various sectors, stressing the importance of intensifying efforts between the two sides to explore new investment opportunities that lead to the establishment of promising joint projects.

His Majesty the Sultan said: “We express our great happiness at being in Paris. This was a very eventful day, as many vital issues of concern to the Sultanate of Oman and the French Republic were discussed, and their effects extend to include all countries of the world.”

His Majesty added, “We are delighted to be in this gathering, which includes an elite group from both the Omani and French sides. What we have witnessed today, and the agreements that have been signed, far exceeds what has been concluded in the past few years.”

His Majesty expressed his appreciation for the points raised by the French President during the meeting regarding areas of potential cooperation, emphasising that the French side’s openness to strengthening the partnership with the Sultanate of Oman was widely welcomed by us and the accompanying delegation.

His Majesty affirmed that the Sultanate of Oman, as is its custom, welcomes all French trading partners and looks forward to a greater presence of Omani investments in the French Republic in the coming period, expressing his confidence that the Omani investment team will be keen to seize investment opportunities wherever they exist.

This forum was organised by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the French International Business Federation, in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion and the Oman Investment Authority, to strengthen cooperation and partnership relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the French Republic.

The forum witnessed the signing of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding that reflect the growing economic and investment partnership between the Sultanate of Oman and the French Republic, and included the fields of energy, industry, automobiles, education, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, technology, aviation, space, renewable energy, and the perfume industry.

In the space sector, Oman’s “Iltaq” Spaceport Company signed an agreement with the French company “Latitude” to cooperate in launching light rockets from the “Iltaq” Spaceport in the Sultanate of Oman, while MBSAT signed a memorandum of understanding with “Telespazio” to provide solutions and services for operating ground stations for satellites.

In the aviation sector, Al Anqa Aerospace and Technology Company signed an agreement with the French company Thales as the main contractor on the Omani side for the Civil Aviation Authority to supply, install and operate the new generation of air traffic control radar systems.

In the transport sector, Al Hashar Group signed an agreement with the French Renault Group to distribute Renault cars in the Sultanate of Oman, and Mohsin Haider Darwish Group concluded a commercial agreement with the French Michelin Group to supply tires to the Omani market.

In the energy and industry sector, the National Energy and Engineering Company signed an agreement with the French group “Sigcom” to assemble smart electricity meters in the Rusayl Industrial City, while Al Fajr International Company signed an agreement with the French group “Saint-Gobain” to explore investment in the natural gypsum sector in the Sultanate of Oman.

The agreements also included the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Omani company Amwaj and the French company L’Oreal in the field of high-end perfume manufacturing, developing national competencies and exchanging experiences in this sector.

In the fields of education and modern technologies, Ghabira International signed a number of partnership agreements with French institutions and companies that included e-learning, school development, cybersecurity certification, and artificial intelligence and computer vision applications.

During the forum, a project to establish a wind power plant with a capacity of (120) megawatts was announced, the contract for which was signed in December 2025, in partnership between the Bahwan Group and the French EDF Group.

A contract was also announced for the development of a satellite project between the Space Communications Technology Company of Oman and Airbus Defence and Space, based on a previously signed agreement between the two parties.

His Excellency Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, affirmed that the high patronage enjoyed by the private sector in the Sultanate of Oman, and the rapid economic growth it is witnessing under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said, have contributed to consolidating the Sultanate of Oman’s position as a reliable economic partner and an attractive destination for investment, and have provided a stimulating environment for building strategic partnerships with various countries of the world.

His Excellency explained that the presence of His Majesty the Sultan, may God protect him, and His Excellency the French President at the Omani-French Business Forum reflects the level of interest in supporting economic cooperation and strengthening investment partnerships between the two friendly countries, and embodies the continued support for private sector initiatives.

His Excellency added that the agreements and memoranda of understanding witnessed at the forum represent a practical translation of this support, reflect the level of mutual trust between the two business communities, and open up broader horizons for establishing quality partnerships and joint projects in the renewable energy, industry, technology, artificial intelligence, aviation, space and services sectors.

He pointed out that these partnerships will contribute to the transfer of knowledge, advanced technologies and expertise, the promotion of innovation and the attraction of quality investments, which will support economic diversification, enhance the volume of trade and investment exchange between the two countries, and achieve the objectives of the “Oman 2040” vision.

He emphasised that the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry will continue its role in strengthening communication between the business communities and providing supportive platforms for establishing partnerships that contribute to achieving common interests and supporting sustainable development.

The outcomes of the forum embody the depth of economic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the French Republic, and open up broader horizons for cooperation and partnership in various sectors of common interest, in a way that serves the aspirations of the two friendly countries. The forum was attended by the official delegation accompanying His Majesty and a number of French officials and businessmen.
