NBO launches pioneering initiative for potential female leaders
National Bank of Oman (“NBO”) has launched a new initiative, ‘Women@NBO’, to empower women in the workplace and develop a strong pipeline of potential female leaders within the Bank.

National Bank of Oman (“NBO”) has launched a new initiative, ‘Women@NBO’, to empower women in the workplace and develop a strong pipeline of potential female leaders within the Bank.
NBO will invite approximately 50 talented female employees with the potential to take up leadership roles within the Bank, from various branches and divisions, to attend the inaugural ‘Women@NBO’ event hosted by the Bank’s Chief Risk Officer (CRO), Salma Al Jaaidi, the first female CRO in the Sultanate. At the initial event, Salma Al Jaaidi will share her success story with the audience, and a distinguished external female coach will share her expertise. Each quarter, the founding community of ‘Women@NBO’ will be treated to further sessions with inspirational expert speakers, on topics such as personal development and leadership.
Commenting on the ‘Women@NBO’ programme, Mr. Ahmed Al Musalmi, Chief Executive Officer of NBO, said: “National Bank of Oman is proud to offer the most fulfilling career opportunities for its employees, and the launch of the ‘Women@NBO’ programme is a testament to this. It is our ambition to elevate all employees based on their talent and industry, including our female employees. It is fitting that the ‘Women@NBO’ is being led by Salma Al Jaaidi, the first female CRO in the Sultanate. Through the ‘Women@NBO’ initiative, we hope to inspire women throughout the Bank, and increase the representation of females within the organisation, particularly at senior levels.”
Salma Al Jaaidi, Chief Risk Officer at NBO, said: “NBO is always looking at developing its employees with unique initiatives that seek to enhance skill-sets and drive personal and professional growth and fulfillment. This is certainly the case with ‘Women@NBO’, which will have a big impact on women across every level of the Bank. We firmly believe that investing and empowering our employees is the foundation to our continued success. I am certain that the practical knowledge, insights and inspiration our employees will receive will not only benefit them greatly, but will also influence their teams and overall productivity at the Bank.”
The ‘Women@NBO’ programme is targeted at delivering motivation, coaching and mentoring to NBO’s female employees across the year. The initiative re-affirms the Bank’s commitment to developing and promoting female talent to senior roles.
