Oman wins 5 eGovernment Awards among GGC

The Sultanate of Oman won yesterday 5 eGovernment Awards at the fourth GCC eGovernment Award, Conference and Exhibition 2015 currently underway from November 25 and 26. The event held under the patronage of Kingdom of Bahrain’s Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.
The National Center for Statistics and Information won the Best eGovernment Website among GCC countries. The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) won the Best Practice in Community eParticipation while Al Raffd Fund (Sanad Program) won the Best eGovernment Integrated Services – Individual/Business Sector award. The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has been awarded the Best Whole-of-Government National eProject. The fifth award for the category of the Best Government Service for Business Sector went to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) on its “Invest easy” project.
“It is no surprise that Omani Government organizations make it to the top honor awards again. The win today of new 5 awards is definitely a source of pride for every Omani and, at the same time, a call to work harder,” Dr. Salim Sultan Al Ruzaiqi, CEO of the Information Technology Authority (ITA) and Head of Oman’s delegation commented.
The fourth GCC eGovernment Award, Conference and Exhibition 2015 honors the leading eServices and the outstanding ICT solutions across the GCC countries. Oman, represented by the mentioned government organizations remarkably won 5 awards out of 8 categories.
The awards categories including Best eGovernment Website, Best eGovernment Integrated Services – Individual/Business Sector,  Best Government eService (G2C), Best Government-to-Government eService (G2G), Best Government Service for Business Sector, Best Practice in Community eParticipation, Best Applications for Smart Devices and finally Best Whole-of-Government National eProject.
Speaking about the importance of Oman’s participation in the 4th GCC eGovernment Award, Conference and Exhibition Dr. Al Ruzaiqi added: “This event comes to continue the efforts of the previous three editions to serve the goals of the GCC countries to shift to eGovernment and push the performance of all countries for the prosperity of GGC nation. The fact that this award ceremony has been organized alongside the two-day conference is by itself a huge step to create a culture of positive competitiveness and healthy discussions among GCC countries’ eGovernments, in an effort to achieve a better ICT experience for each and every beneficiary.”
It is worth to mention that the Award comes along with a conference and exhibition which aim to provide a platform for eGovernment GCC leaders to discuss the various aspects of the eGovernment programs in these nations. Such platform empowers them to share and benefit from each other’s experiences and enhance their respective eTransformation processes.
