OMICRON : Supreme Committee Imposes New Restrictions
Muscat: The Supreme Committee in charge of examining a mechanism for dealing with developments resulting from the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid 19), in the context of its continuous convening, followed up on the developments of this pandemic, measures to prevent it and ways to limit its spread.
The committee has studied reports related to the epidemiological situation of Coronavirus (Covid 19) at the local and global levels, especially in light of the rapid spread of the new mutant “Omicron” in many countries, including the Sultanate of Oman.
According to a statement in ONA, due to the failure of some people to comply with the decisions and mandates approved by the authorities, such as the requirement for two doses of the vaccine, the obligation to wear masks and physical distancing upon entry, and the commitment to the capacity specified for the venue of the event. In order to protect society from this disease and to avoid a rise in cases of the disease, the Supreme Committee decided, starting from Wednesday until further notice, to ban the holding of weddings, funerals in mosques, halls and other public places.
The Committee also confirms the continued ban on holding all events and gatherings in councils. The public and the concerned authorities will take all legal measures to apprehend violators.
