Sohar International Signs Agreement With Oman Cricket Academy to Support Sports Activities

With the bank’s purpose of promoting the spirit of ‘Winning’ and bringing positive socioeconomic change by promoting Oman as an International Sporting Destination, Sohar International has signed a sponsorship agreement with Oman Cricket Academy.

The agreement was signed on September 27 at the Oman Cricket Academy and witnessed the presence of His Excellency Abdulsalam Al Murshidi, President of the Oman Investment Authority; and His Excellency Basil bin Ahmed Al Rawas, Undersecretary for Sports and Youth as the honorable chief guests.

Representing Sohar international was Mr. Ahmed Al Musalmi, Chief Executive Officer and representing Oman Cricket Academy was Pankaj Khimji, Chairman of Oman Cricket.

Also present at the event were Mr. Ahmed Al Musalmi, Chief Executive Officer of Sohar International, and key board members of the Oman Cricket Academy who appreciated the initiatives led by Sohar International in this regard.

Speaking about promoting Oman as a future sporting destination, Mr. Ahmed Al Musalmi, Chief Executive Officer of Sohar International said: “With the Bank’s vision of becoming a world-leading Omani Services Company, our association with such global sporting event reiterates our passion for the country, our insight for its socio-economic development.

“The Oman Cricket Academy has played a paramount role in promoting cricket in Oman. Today the Oman team is not just competing against teams from around the world, but the Oman Cricket Academy is set to host different countries for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021.

With the goal of providing a winning experience to all, Sohar International has always been at the forefront of helping individuals achieve their aspirations with the youth being a key focus area. With Oman as the co-host of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 and key tournaments set to start from October 17, the event is estimated to make a significant impact on the economic scenario of the country while being extensively covered on different media platforms.

Sohar International seeks to actively support such events that will contribute to strengthening Oman’s position on the map as well as showcase the various assets and infrastructural capabilities that the country is proud to offer.

In addition, by supporting the academy which has played an instrumental role in developing cricket as a key sport in the country, the bank also seeks to provide an impetus to the academy to further promote cricket, popularize it amongst the youth and extend more opportunities to local cricket clubs.
