Beaches, Non-Compliant Commercial Activities To Be Shut in Oman; Movement Ban To Be Reinstated As COVID-19 Cases Rise
Muscat: Oman’s Supreme Committee has taken strict decisions to curb the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) as numbers begin to rise once again.
The Supreme Committee has thereby instructed all beaches to be shut until further notice. This came after crowds began thronging beaches across the Sultanate and flouting safety protocols.
The Committee has also decided to shut down “some commercial activities” that were previously reopened but did not comply with the established safety requirements.
While more details on the closed establishments haven’t been revealed as yet, the government body has stated that it will publish more information shortly.
Additionally, the Supreme Committee has also confirmed that it will reinstate night curfew in Oman starting from Sunday, October 11 until Saturday, October 24.
Movement will be banned during this period from 8:00pm until 5:00am. All public places and shops will remain shut during the curfew.
At the time of publishing this article, the total number of coronavirus cases in Oman stood at 104,129, with a total of 1,009 deaths.
