Oman Shell participates at SQU Career and Training Fair 2020
Oman Shell took part at the Career and Training Fair at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) as part of its commitment to supporting the government’s agenda of Omanisation, while empowering the Youth with career opportunities.
The event took place at the Grand Hall of Sultan Qaboos University’s Cultural Center recently. In its 21st edition, the three-day exhibition was organized by the SQU Career Guidance Centre and was held under the patronage of HE Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Governors of Oman Central Bank, and Chairman of the National Centre for Employment.
The fair aimed to provide employment and training opportunities for higher education students and jobseekers from the Sultanate; and to help prepare them for their future careers.
Walid Hadi, Country Chairman of Oman Shell, said: “These types of initiatives serve as great platforms for high caliber and ambitious students who aspire to join the workforce. The event provides students with the right opportunity to meet national and international company representatives to explore training and employment opportunities”, adding that, “With the growth opportunities that we as Oman Shell are currently pursuing in the Sultanate, we believe that Omanisation and local talent development will play a vital role and are key to the future success of the company. As a company in the country’s most prominent sector, it is our responsibility to ensure excellence in this field and we believe that the SQU Career & Training Fair has helps us toward achieving this mission.”
Oman Shell’s stand attracted students and young job seekers throughout the three-day fair and facilitated interaction and networking opportunities for Omani students from various local and international universities and colleges. The Oman Shell team focused on sharing their experiences and knowledge with students while helping create awareness about the different career and training opportunities. Students were also invited to apply online on the Oman Shell websites for opportunities that will be available in the coming months.
Dr. Mohammed Mahmood Al Balushi, Chief Executive Officer at Shell Oman Marketing Company said, “Our aim is to continue leading the sector in the commitment to local talent development and Omanisation policy; where we excel at approximately 93% including in the senior management team. We are determined to stay on course with continuously creating value for Oman and supporting the national agenda.”
He added, “Our participation in this event is an opportunity to share knowledge and experience with the talent pool of Oman as they take their first steps towards shaping a rewarding career. We would like to thank SQU and the organizers on this collaboration, and we look forward to continue building on our strategic partnership in the future.”
