Avengers: Endgame goes past $2.625 billion worldwide, as it chases Avatar’s $2.788 billion
Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame, the biggest movie of 2019, is still running strong at the box-office. And it just proved that yet again, by reaching an estimated total of more than $2.625 billion worldwide, last week. And now it means, that it only needs about $164 million more to dethrone Avatar as the #1 film of all-time in history.
The James Cameron sci-fi directorial of 2009, currently sits atop with a mammoth total of $2.788 billion.
When it comes to the domestic market, then the 22nd MCU flick is still doing great there too, as it just crossed the mark of $775 million in North America.
However, with the release of Detective Pikachu and recently John Wick Chapter 3, the pace of Endgame has slowed down a bit. Yet the audiences are going for watching the finale to the Infinity Saga again and again—the saga that started with 2008’s Iron Man.
Even after its earnings have seen significant drops over the progressive weeks, Endgame still looks likely to overtake Avatar’s collection. It’s headed in its fifth week now.
The movie will be getting a new competition, yet again, this Friday in the form of Aladdin (which is also a Disney release like Avengers: Endgame). Then there is Dark Phoenix, coming in June (again distributed by Disney, after it closed the deal with Fox earlier this).
As of now, there’s still a lot of time for the Joe and Anthony Russo directorial to make it to the top spot on the list.
The movie now also holds the record of biggest global opening as it launched, in April end, in its first weekend with an unprecedented $1.2 billion+. And domestically too, it made a new record with a collection of $357 million. It was also the fastest film to make a billion dollars, in just 5 days and $2 billion dollars in just 11 days!
The movie stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Brie Larson, Josh Brolin as Thanos, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Karen Gillan, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, and Benedict Cumberbatch among many others.
