Nine projects revealed by Sheikh Mohammed under ‘Pledge of 50’
A collective of nine projects have been revealed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai on Sunday as part of his ‘Pledge of 50’ initiative, which aims to improve life in Dubai.
A document detailing the projects was released by Sheikh Mohammed on Twitter.
“I called it the Pledge of 50, following the 50 years of my journey of service to the country,” he said.
The pledge, which looks at projects such as the first virtual commercial district in the region and a doctor for every UAE citizen, will be renewed annually on January 4 each year, Sheikh Mohammed added.
On Saturday, Dubai’s ruler also shared the eight principles of governance that he urged ‘all those holding responsibilities in the emirate’ to follow.
The ‘Pledge of 50′ includes the following nine projects –
1. A Silk Road in Dubai
2. Developing an economic and geographical road map for Dubai
3. Setting up the region’s first virtual commercial district
4. Create a central education file for every citizen from birth
5. Have a doctor for every UAE national
6. Transform every university into a creative and economic hub
7. Achieve self-sufficiency in water, food and energy for 10 per cent of citizens’ homes
8. Establish co-operatives in healthcare, education and food
9. Achieve annual growth in humanitarian work at par with economic development
