Trump Announces Additional Tariffs to European Products
US President Donald Trump announced that European products will soon be subject to additional customs duties, as part of his trade policy, which in recent days has included imposing customs duties on imports from Canada, Mexico and China.
“They’ve really taken advantage of us, you know, we have over $300 billion deficit,” Trump said in a press statement. “They don’t take our cars, they don’t take our farm products. They take almost nothing, and we take everything from the millions of cars, tremendous amounts of food and farm products.” In the same context, the US President revealed upcoming talks with Justin Trudeau, the resigned Canadian Prime Minister, and officials from the Mexican government, after his decision to impose 25% customs tariffs on some products imported from both countries.
Trump has imposed a 25% tariff on products imported from Canada and Mexico, a 10% tariff on Canadian energy resources, and a 10% tariff on goods imported from China, in addition to the existing customs duties.
The tariffs are scheduled to take effect tomorrow “Tuesday”, unless an agreement is reached.
