OABC workshop focuses on developing students core skills
Reaffirming its commitment to support the Sultanate’s national workforce, The Oman American Business Center (OABC) organized a special workshop at the Caledonian College of Engineering to provide students with vital skills training to enhance their career prospects.
Reaffirming its commitment to support the Sultanate’s national workforce, The Oman American Business Center (OABC) organized a special workshop at the Caledonian College of Engineering to provide students with vital skills training to enhance their career prospects. With more than 50 students participating, OABC members coached attendees on how to properly write a CurriculumVitae and conduct themselves during interviews. Additionally, sharing their international expertise with the students were a host of firms based in Oman and abroad, with representation from Dover Middle East, OCTAL, Occidental Petroleum, Halliburton, AMIDEAST, Grand Hyatt Muscat, StartUp Oman and Bank Dhofar.
Ali Daud, President of the OABC, said, “The youth of today face significant challenges accessing the proper knowledge and opportunities they need to smoothly transfer to a working environment. This workshop is part of our efforts to fill that gap and help them secure successful prospects. They are, after all, the future of Oman, making it absolutely essential that we do all we can to empower them with the tools and skills they need to become agents of progress and the leaders of tomorrow.”
Dr Ahmed Hassan Al Bulushi, Dean of the Caledonian College on behalf of the Executive team expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the participating OABC members at the Career Development Workshop at Caledonian College of Engineering, Muscat. On the other hand, Mr Nizammudin Ahmed, Deputy Dean & Registrar of the Caledonian College commented on this partnership: “We hope that this is a promising start to many collaborative projects and we would like to thank the OABC members for their participation and contributions”. The evening of April 11th was packed with expert talks, networking and career counseling opportunities for all final year students at Caledonian College.
The workshop was held on April 11th 2016 as part of the OABC’s efforts to reach out to Omani youth and equip them to lead rewarding careers. Held for the second year in a row, the workshop aimed not only at improving the skills of participating students to but also providing representatives from the public and private sector with an opportunity to meet and recognize potential interns and recruits.
