Oman convention centre generates European interest
Generating a variety of high potential leads and the possibility to attract over 40,000 delegates, the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre (OCEC), the Sultanate’s landmark events hub, has successfully completed its third Roadshow in Europe, a joint initiative with the Ministry of Tourism (MoT).

A highly important fixture in the OCEC’s annual calendar, the exclusive roadshow presented the compelling offer of the soon-to-open venue to decision makers and thought leaders in key European markets of the business events industry including Milan, Geneva, Berlin and Brussels, cities that also have high numbers of leading professional associations.
At the carefully selected four stops of the Roadshow, the OCEC and MoT Team provided the invited industry players with insights into the extraordinary facilities and potential of the iconic venue.
Trevor McCartney, the OCEC General Manager said, “The response to the Roadshow was overwhelming and the OCEC Team is now following up on and consolidating the leads it produced. Indeed, in Geneva we were able to finalise the contract for an event to be held in December 2017. There is no doubt that this booking is a direct result of our collective efforts in championing Oman as a preferred business tourism destination.”
Illustrating the enormous interest from European events industry leaders, Jocelyne Mülli Managing Director of K.I.T. Group GmbH, a company with 25 years of expertise in the organisation of conferences worldwide said, “I have identified Oman to be of great potential for future conferences. It is especially interesting in terms of the capacity of the OCEC and all of the hotels on the ground, the consolidation of all of the services, and access as the international airport is just 4 kilometres away.”
Recognising the strong potential of the OCEC as a venue for professional association events, Riccardo Jannoni-Sebastianini Secretary-General, Apimondia, the International Federation of Beekeepers’ Associations, which organises international conferences and symposiums to facilitate the exchange of information on scientific, technical, ecological, social and economic apicultural development explained, “Once Oman has a member association incorporated in Apimondia, it stands a good chance of competing for an Apimondia event in the future.”
The 3rd Roadshow in Europe is part of the OCEC and MoT’s vigorous international campaign showcasing the exceptional proposition of the state-of-the-art events hub.
