OCCI Explores Investment Opportunities With Finnish Trade Delegation

Muscat: Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) reviewed investment opportunities with a Finnish business delegation led by Ville Skinnari, Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade.
The meeting also highlighted aspects of enhancing cooperation between the private sectors of the two countries, particularly in the fields of industry, technology and services.
Eng. Ridha Juma Al Saleh, Chairman of OCCI said that the trade exchange between the two countries is below aspirations as it reached USD 2.398 billion by June 2021. Exports from Oman reached USD 205.095 million whereas imports reached USD 2.191 billion.
Al Saleh added that practical steps are required to enhance trade relations and to boost trade exchange. He hoped that this meeting would contribute in exploring areas of partnership in new fields particularly in the mining, real estate, industry, health sectors and transfer of knowledge.
In his turn, the Finnish minister underscored his country’s keenness in developing relations between the two countries in various fields. He affirmed the preparedness of Finnish companies in actively contributing to the efforts of economic diversification by setting up partnerships with Oman’s private sector.
A presentation was given on the investment opportunities available in the Sultanate of Oman, which have been launched by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion. Of those, 72 opportunities are in the industrial sector and are ready for investment.
Moreover, B2B meetings were held between businesspeople from Oman and Finland.
