ITA & ROP tie up for new 27 Tam activation hubs

The Information Technology Authority (ITA) and Royal Oman Police (ROP) launched yesterday as many as 27 new activation points for Tam service; particularly at the Civil Status Centers across the Sultanate. Users may now proceed to any of the announced 27 Civil Service Centers across all Governorates. This is in addition to Ministry of Commerce and Industry Branches in Muscat, Sohar, Nizwa, Ibra and Musandam, Ministry of Manpower, Sanad Service Office by Al Rafd Fund in Salalah as well as Muscat City Center to activate their ID cards in order to use Tam-enabled Government eServices.
Users of the internet interested to apply for government online services need Tam to prove and authenticate their digital identity to ensure processing all services in a fast and easy way, to save time, efforts and money.
Dr. Salim Sultan Al Ruzaiqi, CEO of ITA said, “We trust that the public is receptive to the new service as it represents the first step in our endeavor for electronic services in Oman to protect users’ information online, not to mention the great benefits of this service in developing economic, social, educational and service-based sectors in Oman.”
ITA is leading a mass campaign to encourage all Omanis holding ID cards with expiry date of 14th July 2018 onwards and residents with expiry date of 15th July 2015 onwards to activate their ID cards at any of the 27 new locations. Tam service offers secured and protected personal data, authenticated digital identity without the need for physical appearance as well as the ability to sign any document or application electronically. Moreover, with 24/7 access to government services form everywhere users would save money, time and effort.
Tam is an Electronic Certification service provided by the National Digital Certification Center (NDCC) at the Information Technology Authority (ITA).This service allows all Omani citizens and residents to use the government electronic services and transactions in a higher level of security, authenticity, integrity and confidentiality to protect all eTransactions made through ID cards and mobile SIM cards.
Tam Services are protected by Oman eTransaction law which provides citizens and residents the level of trust needed to handle their eTransactions in a way that provides the same legality like regular transactions based on hand written signature and physical existence of the user.
It is noteworthy that government entities have already started to operate their services based on Tam service making a full use of the benefits provided by Tam. Government Portals and entities using Tam enabled services include but not limited to Oman Portal for Government eServices, One Stop Shop of the Invest Easy project, Muscat Municipality, Ministry of Manpower, Ministry of Health, Public Prosecution, Al Rafd Fund, the National Center for Statistic Information (NCSI), Public Authority For Social Insurance and Bank Dhofar.
