Twenty five recently hired employees have become the latest graduates of National Bank of Oman’s (NBO) flagship “Core Banking Programme,” which provides individuals with a comprehensive package of theoretical and practical training before they take up roles within the organisation.
The occasion was marked during a graduation ceremony at the bank’s Academy of Excellence attended by Ahmed Al Musalmi, NBO’s Chief Executive Officer, and Nasser Al Hajri, General Manager, Chief Human Resource Officer and Head of Corporate Affairs.
Nasser Al Harji said: “Hiring the best people and enabling them to reach their full potential is a core pillar of NBO’s business and is central to our long-term strategy to be the bank of choice in the Sultanate of Oman. I congratulate all the latest Core Banking Programme graduates and wish them well in their future careers with National Bank of Oman.”
The Core Banking Programme is an intensive 10-week course covering the theory and practice of banking. It involves classroom training as well as hands-on approach covering a range of areas, including banking systems and operations, processing transactions, sales strategies, and delivering top-class customer experience among others.
Nasser Al Hajri added: “The Core Banking Programme is a highly prestigious springboard to a career in financial services, equipping candidates with an unparalleled breadth of skills and know-how. It forms a key part of the Academy of Excellence’s industry-leading suite of training and continues to provide NBO with a steady stream of exceptional banking professionals able to take the organisation forward.”One of the young graduates mentioned, “The program was excellent and the way it was delivered made it very easy to understand. The exercises that we did during the training have given me lots of confidence. The system training and the practice in the model branch will help me in applying the knowledge and the skills at the workplace.”
The training involved practical modules in a virtual branch setting, enabling trainees to gain on-the-job banking experience while preparing them for critical roles within the bank. The bank has a wide variety of training and development programmes offered by its training arm, Academy of Excellence. It has been consistently delivering a diverse mix of high-quality technical and soft-skill courses aimed at various divisions and levels, and is spearheading the Bank’s transformation journey.
