VIDEO HAIKU: Exploring the Depths of Human Emotions in Bite-Sized Cinematic Gems

The much-anticipated short film ‘Not A Friend’, the third instalment in the unique video series VIDEO HAIKU by Anirban Ray and Vinod Raghavan, was released on Friday at the elegant Glam byMaoosam boutique in Qurum opp ccc second cup .Starring the talented designer Maoosam M Mistry and guitarist Freddy Hines, the 5-minute film captivated the audience with its thought-provoking narrative and compelling performances.
VIDEO HAIKU is a distinctive short film series that delves into the intricate interplay of human relationships and the beauty of nature. With each instalment, the series aims to present profound emotional themes in a succinct and impactful format, much like the essence of a traditional haiku poem.
The latest release, Not A Friend, centres around a sudden phone call between two old friends, Carolina and Vijay. What begins as a casual conversation soon unravels hidden secrets, highlighting how easily judgments are made while leaving the other side of the story untold.
Renowned businessman and philanthropist Kiran Asher, the chief guest of the event, praised the initiative, saying, “Films are a strong medium to connect with people irrespective of differences, and VIDEO HAIKU has truly set the trend in capturing the essence of human emotions in a concise yet powerful way.”
Actress Maoosam M Mistry, who plays Carolina in the film, expressed her excitement about her return to acting, stating, “I renewed my acting career after years, and it was an incredible experience. The catharsis I felt while portraying Carolina was unparalleled. The character is the complete opposite of who I am in real life. I am calm and non-judgmental, so stepping into Carolina’s shoes was both a challenge and a rewarding journey.”
Launched at the luxurious Glam by Maoosam boutique, known for its exquisite collection of designer Indo-Western dresses and ornaments, the event offered an intimate and stylish setting for the film’s premiere. The boutique’s sophisticated ambiance complemented the film’s thematic depth, creating an unforgettable experience for attendees.
The VIDEO HAIKU series continues to captivate audiences with its ability to explore human emotions through minimalist storytelling. With its innovative approach and universal themes, it has quickly become a favorite among film enthusiasts and critics alike.
