The fine waiver/grace period will be between 15th November 2020 and 31st December 2020, during which employers too will be exempted from any fees and fines arising from work permits for their non-Omani manpower.
The news comes following the implementation of the decisions of the Supreme Committee charged with examining the mechanism for dealing with developments resulting from the spread of Coronavirus.
The online statement reads: “Non-Omani workers who have expired passports must visit their countries’ embassies in the Sultanate to renew their travel documents. They should then visit the Ministry of Labor’s office at Muscat International Airport to complete the departure procedures such as taking their travel documents, travel tickets, PCR certificate, as well as committing to the requirements of their destination country.”
It adds: “Employers should update their data. Those who have claims should provide evidence to the specialised authorities within a week from the date of publishing the data of foreign workers who are wishing to leave on the ministry’s website.”
The Ministry announces that The Employers and Expatriate manpower are exempted from all fees and fines arising from work permits for non-Omani manpower, provided that they leave the Sultanate for good, starting from 15/ 11/ 2020 until 31/12/2020 pic.twitter.com/xIcDXm615q
