PDO Appoints Dr. Aflah Al Hadhrami As Its New Managing Director

Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has announced the appointment of Dr. Aflah bin Said Al Hadhrami as the organisation’s new Managing Director, a significant milestone as he becomes the first Omani to assume this esteemed position.
In a statement, PDO emphasised the historical significance of this appointment, underlining the government’s trust in the domestic talent within the energy sector.
In a tweet, PDO remarked: “We extend our best wishes to Dr. Aflah in his new position. We are confident in his abilities and extensive experience and looking forward to him leading PDO towards achieving its purpose and strategic goals.”
Who is Dr. Aflah Al Hadhrami?
Dr. Al Hadhrami has experience serving as the CEO of AlShawamikh Oil Field Services, leveraging his nearly two decades of extensive experience in the Oil & Gas sector.
His illustrious career commenced with Petroleum Development of Oman, from which he transitioned to progressively senior leadership roles in Supply Chain capacities at esteemed organisations such as Oman Refinery LLC, Schlumberger Overseas S.A., Occidental Oil and Gas Corporation, and as the Middle East Regional Director for BP Exploration.
He also holds a Doctoral Degree in Business Management from the University of Liverpool (UK) and is affiliated with esteemed professional bodies, including membership in both the Royal Chartered Institute (MCIPS) and CILT.
Beyond his corporate endeavours, Dr. Al Hadhrami shares his expertise as an adjunct lecturer at the College of Economics and Political Science, Sultan Qaboos University, where he also serves on the College Advisory Board.
Actively engaged in various committees and boards, he contributes significantly to the advancement of the industry, holding positions such as Vice Chairman for OPAL (Oman Petroleum Association Society), Chairman for Oman Logistics Association (OLA), and membership in the Oman Vision 2040 committee, among other senior roles.
