Apollo Hospital Muscat, which was recently upgraded into a fully-fledged hospital with world Class facilities, was officially inaugurated on Wednesday. With the opening of the Hospital, Apollo turned out to be a preferred choice for medical treatment for both locals and expatriates in the Sultanate, avoiding hectic and time-consuming trip to developed countries for specialized medical treatment.
The first-ever Apollo Hospital in the Middle East was inaugurated by His Highness Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, Advisor to His Majesty the Sultan.
The Apollo Hospital Muscat currently has 25 specialized in-house doctors and eight super specialty visiting consultants from Apollo India, for neurology, oncology and orthopaedics. The newly-upgraded hospital has announced ambitious plans for introducing an array of specialized departments in a phased manner, including separate clinics for thalassemia, orthopedics and neuro diseases.
The launch was announced in a grand ceremony organized by Apollo Hospital Muscat in the august presence of Dr. Preetha Reddy, Executive Vice-Chairperson of Apollo Hospitals Group, India and Mr. V T Saileswaran, Managing Director, Apollo Hospital Muscat.
Addressing the inaugural function, His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, said that he is glad to learn about the good work of Apollo in the Sultanate and specialized hospitals are a need of hour. He congratulated the management of Apollo Hospital Muscat for upgrading the erstwhile medical centre into a fully-fledged hospital.
The Apollo Hospitals Group, India, was represented by Dr. Preetha Reddy, who said; “We at Apollo family is delighted to have the first-ever Apollo Hospital in the GCC region. The enhanced clinical bandwidth is our priority, especially as the world faces an ever increasing threat of non-communicable diseases and complex disease patterns.”
Saileswaran, who also addressed the gathering, said that the newly-upgraded hospital would add more clinical bandwidth to the existing facility, which will include hearing aid service, a thalassemia clinic for children, fully-fledged orthopedics and neuro clinic and a state-of-the-art knee and shoulder clinic. The hospital also plans to introduce reproductive medicine clinic and pediatric cardiac clinic towards the second half of the year.
Apart from clinical bandwidth, a specialized medical travel assistance service and free second medical opinion service centre will be established for assisting patients. This will help patients to access the vast pool of medical services available at Apollo’s Indian chain.
Mr. Saileswaran added that a comprehensive care service called ‘Apollo Care Plan’ is also on offer, which can be availed free of cost for the entire family after the head of family registers at the hospital. The inaugural offer will also include free general practice consultation, one dental check-up.
Following the launch, the dignitaries and media representatives had a tour to preview the state-of-the-art facilities of Apollo Hospital, Muscat.
Through by a strategic agreement, Mr. Saileswaran, commenced the operations of Apollo in the Sultanate in the year 2006 as Apollo Medical Centre Muscat. The facility was upgraded as per Ministry of Health’s guidelines to Apollo Hospital Muscat offering services across multiple specialties including orthopeadics, gynecology, urology, cardiology and ENT.
Mr. Abilash Pillai, Chief Operating Officer, Apollo Hospital Muscat, Mr. Radhey Mohan, Vice President, Apollo Hospitals, India, Dr. Dilip Kumar, Medical Director, Apollo Hospital, Muscat and Mr. Jithu Jose, Group General Manager, Apollo Hospitals, Middle East were also present. Apollo Hospital Muscat seems all set to ‘touch lives’ in the Sultanate and GCC region.
