Tea and coffee imports in Oman exceed RO49 million

The foreign trade movement of tea and coffee in the Sultanate of Oman has recorded remarkable growth during the past five years, with the value of imports of both products increasing during the period from 2021 to 2025.

The latest statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information showed that the value of tea imports increased from RO13.9 million in 2021 to RO28.2 million in 2025, a growth rate of 103.2 percent. Imported quantities also increased from 9.3 million kilograms to 26.2 million kilograms, registering an increase of 182.1 percent during the same period.

Coffee imports recorded remarkable growth; their value increased from RO8.6 million in 2021 to RO21 million in 2025, a growth rate of 144.1 percent, while the imported quantities increased from 6.2 million kilograms to 7.7 million kilograms, a growth rate of 23.9 percent.

At the level of the supplying countries during 2025, the Republic of Kenya topped the list of tea-supplying countries to the Sultanate of Oman with a value of RO20.2 million, followed by the United Arab Emirates with a value of RO4.7 million, and India with a value of RO1.1 million.

As for coffee imports, the United Arab Emirates topped the list of countries supplying the Sultanate of Oman during 2025 with a value of RO8.5 million, followed by Vietnam with a value of RO2.6 million, then the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with a value of RO1.6 million, and Brazil with a value of RO1.5 million.

The commercial activity extended to re-export; the value of tea re-exports during 2025 amounted to about RO1.03 million, while the value of its exports amounted to RO737,200, coffee re-exports amounted to RO338,500, while coffee exports amounted to RO11,800.

The trade activity included tea and coffee tools and supplies, with the value of imports during the past year amounting to  RO5 million, compared to RO6.5 million in 2024, while the value of re-exports amounted to RO796,400.

Data from establishments operating in restaurant and cafe activities indicated the expansion of the base of activities related to the provision of food and beverages in the Sultanate of Oman, which includes establishments that offer beverages, meals, mobile establishments, restaurants and canteens belonging to public facilities.

According to the latest available data, the number of establishments operating in the restaurant sector reached 6,198, while the number of establishments that primarily serve beverages reached 2,833, and the number of establishments that primarily serve meals reached 6,295, in addition to 427 mobile establishments and 65 establishments of restaurants and canteens belonging to public facilities.
