Mercedes-Benz, Muscat Rugby Football Club partner to drive Rugby in Oman

Mercedes-Benz in Oman is the 2015/2016 Main Sponsor of the Muscat Rugby Football Club (MRFC), the home of rugby in Oman. This high-profile partnership marks the second year tie-up between the two entities and is set to unite fans of rugby and Mercedes-Benz to take the sport to a whole new level in Oman.
Commenting on the sponsorship, Clive Hammond, CEO – Automotive of ZTC, said: “MRFC has a history that no other club in Oman can boast, and we are proud to be supporting it and seeing it continue its legacy. Mercedes-Benz and rugby share many qualities from the thirst for competition to the desire to go beyond one’s limits, and this partnership will see MRFC deliver an even more adrenaline-filled experience this season.”
Believing in building youth capacities and skills through the power of sports, Mercedes-Benz has identified and established strategic collaborations with some of Oman’s leading sporting organizations and initiatives over the years. Today, the three-pointed star is considered the premier partner of choice successfully merging its passion for performance, its commitment to excellence and its dynamic approach to innovation with sports of all kinds
“We are delighted to welcome Mercedes-Benz to lead our roaster of sponsorships and look forward to a mutually beneficial partnership which will only spur further progress and growth,” said Alex Maxton, MRFC Club Captain.
Founded in 1971, the MRFC has come a long way from its humble origins. From having only a sand pitch with just enough men to field a team, the club now has over three hundred players ranging from juniors to veterans. In recent years, MRFC has branched out from merely offering a sports outlet for Muscat and today includes over eight hundred members from across Oman.
As part of the agreement to sponsor the club’s matches, Mercedes-Benz will also serve as the title sponsor for all MRFC’s events, including the annual Touch Rugby World Cup and Oval Ball. The new season kicked-off in September 2015, with all matches scheduled to place in Bowsher,
