Latest statistical data released by the Statistics Department at the Admission Center for the academic year 2014/2015 reported that the percentage of female students in higher education institutions in the Sultanate is higher than that of males, with 57.7% to female students and 42.4% for male students.
At the same academic year, private higher education institutions in the Sultanate hosted more students compared to the government higher education institutions. The number of student in the private institutions were 68350 students, with 51.9%, compared to 63410 students in the government institutions.
At the level of qualifications, the number of students studying in institutions of higher education in the Sultanate for the academic year 2014/2015 and who will receive a bachelor’s qualification is the highest rate reaching 83.2% compared to the rest of qualifications.
The diploma came in second at 14.1%, the master came third with 2.6% while the PHD came last with 0.1%.
